Thank you all for attending our second ''official '' Reunion, Money and myself want to thank you all for making this Event wonderful and memorable, We don't know how to put all our feelings in words. For all our Friends in India , Middle East and U K, our Event started On Friday, Jolly and Family arrived at Milwaukee Airport at 12; 30 PM, Ike and Jaya drove them to Chicago, Jacob and Shila arrived at Savio and Annie's Place Friday around 8 PM , later on they were joined by Phil and George. Jolly family and Shila family spent the night at Ike and Jaya's place. Saturday as usual I woke up at 4 AM and waited anxiously for everybody. Phil and George arrived first around 12:30 PM , followed by Savio and Annie and later on the rest came. Mathewkutty and Leena were kind enough to bring our Jane and Nibin along with them. They arrived at Chicago Airport on Saturday around Noon and came to Milwaukee at 3 PM or so . Samsun called us during the Event around 4:15 PM Milwaukee time and our Ramakrishan talked to all of us, it was a surprise, Thanks to Samsun and Ramakrishnan. The Event concluded around 4 PM on Sunday.
For everybody's information, these are the KMC kids who attended our second Reunion: 1 Rebecca [ Jolly and Susan's youngest daughter'] she was the Score keeper and Jacob's assistant during Jeopardy game. 2 Neetha [ Mathew and Leena's daughter] she kept on smiling all the time and I have no idea what was her impression about these Oldies' Get Together. 3 Nibin [ Pachikara's younger son] he was there only for a short time but was very keen to find out what was going on and was smiling all the time just like his mother. 4 Jeff and Kevin , [Ike and Jaya's younger boys] they drove all the way from Chicago to attend this, the sole purpose of their visit was to cast votes for Jane aunty and Money uncle. THANK YOU ALL THE KIDS for attending this function even though it
was boring for them. |

We want to thank Meena and Money for organizing such a great event. Everyone in NA attended with the exception of Samson, who had been away in India and so could not make it. But he was gracious enough to send Jane for the reunion. As is her custom, Jane hasn't stopped smiling yet. Everyone had a great time. Every participant had played a great role that eventually led to the success of the program. Again, thanks everyone for the great memories. Jacob and Shila |

It was a wonderful and joyous weekend filled with all kinds of nostalgic recollections. Many many thanks to Meena and Mony, Jacob and Shila, and Ike and Jaya. Susan, Rebecca and myself were overwhelmed by the love and hospitality of all of you. Our little one (Rebecca) was actually expecting a real boring weekend when we left New York; but as it turned out she really enjoyed every moment of the event and "Jacob uncle" made sure she was not ignored. Thank you, thank you, thank you for such a beautiful event. Can't wait for the next Reunion. Susan and Jolly |

What a weekend! We had such a great time being with all of you and having so much fun. Yesterday when a patient's mom asked me why my voice was so hoarse I had to tell her it was due to all the talking and laughing over the weekend. Meena Nathoon and Money Uncle, thank you so much for putting together such a great get together. Jolly and Susan and Becky, we had a great time with all of you. Jolly and Susan, thanks to you both our teams were able to answer the Bible questions. Thanks a bunch to Mathew and Leena for bringing Jane and Nibin.
Neetha you were smiling the whole time. Jacob and Shyla without you and without Jacob's leadership this reunion wouldn't be what it was. Thanks to all for such a great reunion. Ike and Jaya |

Many thanks to Meena& Mony, Savio & Annie, Jacob & Shila, Ike & Jaya and every body else attended this event to make it quite memorable and pleasant. We left Brantford on Friday around 1 PM, hoping to cross the border by 3 PM and make it Savio's house around 7:15 PM, after that to visit Jaya & Ike may be around 9:30 PM. However 2 hour delay at the border crossing totally changed the plans. We had a delicious supper prepared by Annie and children in the company of Jacob and Shila. We had a wonderful desert prepared by Savio ( a secret recipe). After the supper Jacob, Shila and ourselves proceeded to the west towards Milwaukee. I was surprised by the energy and enthusiasm of Meena and Mony. They have worked countless hours to make this reunion a great success. Our activity coordinator from Cleveland and our little SCORE KEEPER from New York also added color to this event. Also I was surprised at Ike's memory of recollecting things happened in the college days. We left Milwaukee on Monday around 1 PM Milwaukee time and reached Brantford about 9:30 PM. George & Phil |

I am still laughing thinking about the whole weekend and I am sure
we all will be laughing for weeks. We had a really good time (I don't know when Mathew will be writing but he really enjoyed the break he got from the patients)). Netha also had a good time listening to the stories. She said she had trouble getting the jokes that Ike uncle said and I told her that they are all inside jokes and even I didn't get some of those ( I had no idea what PULIVAL was and Jane explained the whole story to me on the way back. Since our flight was delayed we had a lot of time for chatting. Sheila, it was nice to talk to you. Last time I didn't get to talk to you since you were busy hosting. Philsamma, I am still wondering how you can resist the temptation to take the elevator. It was good to listen to you talking. Everybody else, I have known you guys for a long time. and I always enjoyed your company. Jolly and Susan I envy you having a little one at home. Sometimes it is very lonely without kids at home and my Hubby working late. Anyway It was good to see you after a long time. You are all welcome to visit Utica at any time, you don't have to wait for the re union. I will reveal my secret recipes. Me and Jane already started planning for the next year's events. Be ready to be surprised ( Jacob, you have to pretend that you also live in Utica and be part of the planning co). Meena and Money thanks for the wonderful weekend. Ike and Jaya when I look out through my kitchen window I am not seeing any flowers, I just see wandering deers. (Today early morning the Deer family was trying to eat my tomatoes). Your backyard is picture perfect. Savio and Annie , you better visit us in between. Your nest is empty and you have nothing to do. Enjoy the rest of the summer. For Mathew |

We had a great time during the last weekend. Nibin regrets not being
at the reunion sooner, he wishes he had been able to play jeopardy.
If I had chosen not to attend the reunion it would have been a big
loss. A big thank you to Mathew and Leena for encouraging me to go
and taking Nibin and myself with you. Thanks also to Samson for
pushing me to go, it was too bad he missed out on all the fun. Thank
you Meena, Money, Ike and Jaya for their hospitality. It was great
seeing Philsamma for the first time after graduating from KMC. Also
it was fun being in the team with Savio (who read Bible for dummies)
and Susan. I am glad we won the game initially, but it was too bad
we lost the next morning. I was impressed by Jolly's and Susan's
knowledge of the Bible. Thank you Jacob and Shyla for making the
jeopardy game such a success, we all know it took a lot of work.
Jaya, please convey my thanks to Jeff, Kevin and Chris who voted for
me and for keeping Nibin entertained. A thanks to Ike for making the
reunion CDs. Even though we were waiting in the airport for 6 hours it was not a boring time, Leena and I were chatting the whole time, Nibin and Neetha kept each other company and Mathew was worrying about tomorrows patients. On the way back Leena and I remembered our classmate Thomas T.M. Next year we will meet in Utica (Ootpia). Leena and I have already began plans for the event. Jane |

Reunion-Story Behind the Headlinesby Jacob |

As you all know I like to look at the story lines behind the scenes. So,
here are some highlights from the event. Since I could not be everywhere
plus people were extra careful when I was around knowing well that the news
will hit online, if you know of interesting anecdotes (or embarrassing
moments) from the reunion that I missed, please share. Some of the feedback received are incorporated.)
1. The big advocate cum expert of satellite navigation system, George
and Philsamma, lost the way on Friday on the way to Savio's house. (I
had no problem finding the place guided by maps). This, in spite of the
fact that George supposedly has 2 navigation systems (in addition to
Philsamma). After manual correction by Savio, George and Philsamma
finally managed to get near Savio's house. Then his navigation system
told him to go to Savio's neighbor's house. Myself and Savio were
standing on the road frantically waiving at George not to go to the
neighbor's house. So much for Navigation Systems.
(George's Comments: Dear Jacob: I still think you have real confusion about GPS Navigation. GPS unit did not cause any error. Problem was mostly driver fatigue. I was behind the wheel for almost 9 hrs. The exit I was supposed to take, was out ordinary and cars were pushing me from behind. I had two choices, 1. ignore and take the next exit or 2. get bumped from behind and a $15,000 damage to the car and a whiplash. So I choose the 1st option knowing very well that the machine will recalculate the alternate route. Even though Savio was kind enough to give direction to Phil, I was soley depending on the machine to direct me to his house. Also I was not trying to get into his neighbor's house. There is a 10 meter error factor build into the system by US military (it is their satelites anyway) when it is used by civilians. I was trying trying to read the house numbers in pitch darkness.) 2. We have found out that Ike had been trying to score points with a female classmate (remain unnamed. Clue: The person was not present at the reunion) while at Kottayam. Every time Ike makes an overture, this smart lady would brush off Ike. 3. Jolly went to an interview at KMC that no one else had any memory of attending. Jolly still insist on attending that. He then turned to our smiling Jane and asked her, "Don't you remember going to the interview?" To which smiling Jane answered, "Was that at the bus station/stop?" Now it was Jolly's turn to be surprised. He claims to have no recollection of an interview at the bus station. May be someone will "confess" and we can unravel this mystery before the next reunion. 4. On Sunday's academic challenge speed round, the two finalist team members were under lot of stress as they had to come up with the correct response in split second. At one point our Jaya Nathoon could not take the taunting by someone, and blurted out, "You should come and sit here to find out how tough it is to come up with the answers in a split second."
Jacob, Money sings this song'' Enthe kannanu karuppu niram, '' daily especially this line ''Ennalum ennalum ente nirathinu ayiram azhakundennu '' to remind me about the importance of his color and not "Tharattu'' as you have written, so please do that correction. Meena.) 7. Talking of talent, our Meena Nathoon makes some of the best pickles. I had to go for a third helping to eat some of that delicious pickle. So, that "tharattu pattu" Money sings is very effective. 8. I think you all know the knowledge of Jolly when it comes to spirituality etc. Frankly, I was very impressed. We were talking about that while driving from Ike's house in Chicago to Milwaukee. His interpretation of "I am who I am" is something I haven't heard anywhere else. Jolly says only God can say, I am who I am, because for us we can use present tense only for this moment. But for God, there is no past, present, or future. It is all present (am) because God is eternal. It is an extremely profound thought. 9. Susan really put our Leena and Annie to shame as to how she handled the induction ceremony. Jolly gave a big speech about Susan. Then Susan entertained everyone with her melodious singing of "Vandanam yesu para". She even answered some trick questions asked by our slippery Leena and Annie. What a difference in the scene from last year to this year. Thank you Susan. 10. Annie prepared her branded Annie tea with the secret DNA ingredient. She came well prepared with enough tea to treat everyone. I must have drunk at least 20 cups of tea between Friday and Saturday. Ike also has prepared his special Starbucks coffee. Thanks to Ike, we are all experts on caffeine content of coffee. I thought we can drink dark roasted coffee as, according to Ike, it has less caffeine than the light roasted variety. On the way back from Milwaukee, I stopped in Toledo to buy some coffee and I was surprised to find a brand called "Annihilator" that is loaded with caffeine because it is roasted dark according to the description. I stood there and debated whether I should just drink it knowing Ike is always right or follow what the label said and buy a less caffeine version. 11. We all learned that our smiling Jane can be quite dangerous especially if she sees someone with thick hair. Leena recalled the first time she met Jane. Jane walked straight to Mathukutty, and before even saying a word, Jane pulled a hair from his head. Leena was shocked and surprised and asked Jane, "What are you doing?". Jane, still smiling, replied, "Oh I was making sure that he has natural hair and not wearing a wig!!" Like Ike says, "Ambedeee..."
Editor's Comment: Thank you Leena for the correction. It is corrected.) |
